Worktops
Laminate Worktops
Elegant, practical and hardwearing, offering a unique combination of quality and value. Choose from abstract designs, wood effects or granite & marble reproductions. Many come with matching splashback panels and upstands.
Laminated worktops can be supplied in a choice of thicknesses, lengths and widths and are made to suit all budgets. Designs often feature realistic reproductions of natural wood, marble and Granite. Abstract designs are also available in a palette of colours unrivalled by other surfacing materials.
Solid Wood Worktops
Manufactured from finger jointed hardwood staves approximately 40mm wide. This method of construction provides a stable panel with an attractive blocked appearance which is ideal for domestic or commercial worktop applications.
- Oak is extremely strong and durable and usually has some 'character', particularly in long lengths. The worktops may include a few small clean knots. Oak will simply last forever with maintenance and will consistently look better year by year.
- Beech is a popular wood seen a lot over recent years in all types of furniture. It is pale, light tan wood with darker colour flecks which add to the character. It is between Maple and Ash in style and colour.
- Maple is an excellent straight grained white wood. The colour and grain pattern tends to be very consistent, wide and uniform apart from a bit of colour here and there.
- Iroko is a stable, solid, heavy timber from Africa, similar to teak. It is naturally oily so has a head start for the maintenance programme. It starts pale brown but deepens quite quickly to a rich brown. Often used as a contrasting wood to compliment paler cabinets or floor.
Granite Worktops
Granite comes in a staggering range of colours, many with an attractive movement and some with almost holographic sparkle and intensity of colour. Granite can be supplied in different finishes - high polish, matt or textured, depending on the application. Its hard-wearing properties make it ideal for kitchen worktops.
Generally the granite worktops are produced in 30mm thicknesses and can be supplied in 3 different finishes: Polished, Honed and Antiqued.
- Polished is the most widely used and is the most resilient to stains.
- Honed / Matt gives the stone a matt finish, and black honed surfaces are often used instead of slate - granite being much more hardwearing. The honing process does make the stone more porous and it is therefore slightly more susceptible to staining than a polished finish.
- Antiquing the stone involves flame texturing the surface and bush hammering it to produce a textured finish which produces a very tactile material. Granite makes the ultimate statement in kitchen design whether in the form of worktops, a kitchen island, breakfast bar, or a piece of freestanding furniture, it can be the finishing touch to your kitchen design.
